KJ Choi - Posture - Improvement Cycle - Case Study 1
by Steve Bann

Having just won $415,000 at the 2008 Skins Game at Indian Wells,Calif, I know that KJ won't mind me sharing some insights with you on what we have been working on with his game

The shot here on the LHS is KJ Choi at the US Open in 2006. As you can see his posture was very poor at this stage. He was quite rounded in the back, standing upright, open in the shoulders and his eye-line was pointing left. KJ was struggling with his career at this stage - he had dropped from top 20 in the world to outside the top 60 and he was keen to get back to playing to his full potential

The first thing we did was introduce KJ to the improvement cycle and the concept of doing his posture exercise every day for 21 days.

On the RHS you can see how he looked 21 days later at the Bridgestone at Firestone in Akron.

  • His posture has improved tremendously.
  • He is no longer rounded in the back.
  • He is leaning forward from top of the legs.
  • His eye-line is no parallel to the intended target.
